Instructor

Lizbeth Navarro was born and raised in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico. In 2010 she earned a BFA in Ceramics from California State University, Long Beach. Liz’s work is inspired by her multicultural heritage, which was always surrounded by beautiful handmade objects. In her work, she incorporates traditional techniques and materials with contemporary themes to deliver unique works of art. Along with her artistic endeavors, Liz has taught at various non-profit organizations that serve the underrepresented communities in Los Angeles.

Liz is interested in exposing her students to ceramics as a tool to explore their own creativity. Her pedagogy stems from the belief that clay is a humble material to work with yet its possibilities and permanence are remarkable. It has a gentle way to teach us powerful lessons regarding patience, resilience and letting-go. By providing a safe, non-judgmental environment, Liz encourages and nurtures; play, observation, exploration, discovery and artist intention over skill mastery in the studio. Liz’s assignments are designed to create gradual challenges that allow students to explore the infinite possibilities that ceramics and creativity have to offer. Liz provides a dynamic learning experience for students by introducing them to the basic building and decorating techniques, and by referencing art history, ceramics history, and contemporary art practices.

Sliding Scale Pricing

Sliding scale pricing is a tool for social equity. We use sliding scale pricing to make ceramics education accessible and affordable to all.

There are three tiers for pricing, when signing up for a workshop, please pay on the scale what feels right to you and your current finances. This is a trust based system, only you will know what feels comfortable and possible.

The high end of the scale is the true cost. If you are someone who can afford to pay this, please do, as this offsets the price for others, allowing us to create more affordable offerings.

There are a set amount of spaces available per tier to ensure that the scale is balanced and workshop costs are covered. If a tier is sold out it means that all those spots have been spoken for. An interest free payment plan is available for all workshops to break the workshop cost down to smaller payments over a longer period of time.

We do our best to ensure workshops are accessible and affordable. We are continuously improving our pricing system, please reach out if you have any questions or ideas you'd like to share.

Cancellation Policy

Workshops are non-refundable, if you do need to cancel we will try our best to fill the spot, in which case we can offer a refund, however this is not guaranteed. If you are unable to attend the workshop you may transfer your spot to another person.

COVID Protocol
Participants are encouraged to take at home Covid tests prior to the workshop to ensure collective safety. As we're working in a very well ventilated environment, masks are optional. If you are feeling unwell please stay home and get in touch so that we can schedule a make-up session.
