Welcome to The Kami Studio Membership! 🐈‍⬛✨

We are happy to announce the launch of the sliding scale studio membership! Our intention in creating a small membership system is to ensure mutual care amongst members and their work, along with fostering a strong sense of support and community.

2. Additional Benefits: As a member, you're welcome to a 15% discount on all studio services including classes, rentals, events and private workshops. Online Platform: With a custom online forum, members can access the studio schedule, discussion groups where they can exchange with other members and technical staff, along with resources to support their work. Our online forum allows for members to chat with one another, share images of their work, receive studio updates and ask our team technical questions.

4. Community Gatherings: Join our monthly studio gatherings. This is a time to connect with fellow studio members, discuss ideas, troubleshoot issues and support one another. 6. Firings: By maintaining a small studio size our team ensures the best care when handling work to reduce the possibility of accidents, as much as possible. Only professionally trained and experienced staff members will handle member work and fire the kiln to ensure high quality firings. Members are allocated 2.5 cubic feet of firing space per month for low fire and cone 5 firings. Custom firings for luster and high fire can be accommodated with special request. Discounted firing rates are available to those needing additional firing space for special projects and exhibitions, along with rush firings to meet deadlines.

7. Experimentation: Members are welcome to experiment with local clays, glazes and commercial clay bodies. We'll work together to ensure proper preparations are made for firings to ensure there aren't accidents that happen in the kiln. We're here to support and encourage exploration and growth. 🗺️ 🔭🪐

Firing Only Membership

This membership tier is for those working from home and would just like to fire their pieces at the studio. Studio glazes will be available for use and 2.5 cubic feet of firing space per month. If you'd like to adjust the amount of firing space to meet the needs of your work, or your budget, get in touch with us. We're happy and flexible to make adjustments.

Sliding Scale Pricing
Sliding scale pricing is a tool for social equity. We use sliding scale pricing to make ceramics accessible and affordable through mutual community care. There are three tiers for pricing when signing up for a membership, please pay on the scale what feels right to you and your finances. This is a trust based system, only you will know what feels comfortable and possible.

The high end of the scale is the true cost of a membership. If you are someone who can afford to pay this, please do, as this offsets the price for others, allowing us to create more affordable offerings. If your finances change over time, you can always adjust your membership tier in the online portal.

There are a set amount of spots available per tier to ensure that the scale is balanced and membership costs are covered. If a tier is sold out it means that all those spots have been spoken for. We've worked hard to price our membership within a scale that creates accessibility while also ensuring sustainability at the studio. If the tier that is affordable for you is sold out, please get in touch and we'll do our best to work with you and find a sustainable alternative.

Sooki Studio strives to operate a thoughtful, intentional and socially conscious business that values care, communication and community. We work hard to maintain an equitable studio and pay our teachers and staff respectable wages that honor their work and invaluable experience. The studio works to provide a space where community can be built, gather and thrive, thank you for being apart of the journey! We are continuously working to improve the studio, please reach out if you have any questions or ideas you'd like to share.
