FAQS & Policies

Sooki Studio + Supply is a small, family run business. The studio was founded by artist & educator, Natalia Ira Sookias, and would not be possible without the support of her mom, Gina. The studio started in our home 5 years ago and has slowly grown to what it is today in Frogtown, Los Angeles.

We strive to run a sustainable, ethical and intentional creative business that's rooted in community, care and collective growth. We prioritize our well-being and that of our community members and work to create a non-judgemental safe haven within the city where people of all ages, identities and backgrounds can feel safe to explore, connect and create.

As we're a very, very small operation, we at times need to adjust our hours and programing. We always do our best to consistent, communicate and to be transparent and we also ask that our community be gracious and understanding with us.

If you ever have any questions, suggestions or concerns, please reach out to us at info@sooki.studio or visit us at Sooki Supply. Thank you for supporting us, the studio would be nothing without the community that has shaped it.

Health, Safety & Accessibility

Community care and inclusivity lay at the core of Sooki. We believe that creativity requires vulnerability and over the last four years we have worked to foster a feeling of safety within the studio. This intention is reflected in our policies, studio setup, and collective efforts.

We are fortunate to have an indoor/outdoor space that offers a safe haven, particularly for our immunocompromised community members who are at higher risk for Covid, flu, RSV, colds, and other infections.

To ensure a safer space for everyone, we now require masks for all programming and are providing N95 and KN95 masks. Masks also protect us from clay & glaze dust that can become harmful with longterm inhalation. We ask that everyone work with us, so that we can collectively create a feeling of safety, community and connection.

Our property is ADA accessible. The bathroom has 3 steps and a ramp can be fitted upon request. On-site parking is available when needed along with other accommodations.

Please reach out with any questions, ideas or concerns to info@sooki.studio. We’re always happy to hear from our community and are constantly working to make our space accessible and safe for all.

Workshops & Firing

Sooki Studio is not responsible for any damage to the work due to poor construction of the piece, air bubbles, dampness or glazing defects due to glaze application, glaze fit or wrong glaze temperature. Please keep in mind that ceramics is a very unpredictable and fragile medium. While we ensure delicate handling of all pieces at the studio accidents can happen in a communal space. Sooki Studio is not responsible for any damage to work stored at the studio.

Any damage to the kiln or shelves caused by defects in the student’s or member's work is the responsibility of the owner of the piece. $40 per half shelf and $75 per round shelf.

All costs involved in repair of kiln or replacement of shelves will be covered by the owner of the piece.

Sliding Scale Pricing

Sliding scale pricing is a tool for social equity, designed to make ceramics education accessible and affordable.

When signing up for a workshop, please choose the pricing tier that feels right for your current finances. This is a trust-based system, and only you know what’s comfortable and possible for you.

The high end of the scale reflects the true cost of the workshop. If you’re able to pay this, it helps subsidize others and makes our offerings more affordable.

There are limited spaces per tier to ensure balance and coverage of workshop costs. If a tier is sold out, it means all spots have been filled. An interest-free payment plan is available, allowing you to split the cost over time.

We strive to make our workshops accessible and continually improve our pricing system. If you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out.

All ceramic pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe. We highly recommend hand washing your pieces to increase their longevity. If your piece becomes worn and dirty use a soft non-colored brush with a bit of baking soda to help bring new shine back.

Every piece is handmade and one-of-a-kind, resulting in variations in color and size. These subtle differences are what make each piece unique and truly handmade. Listed dimensions are approximations.
