Welcome to The Studio Membership! ✨

We’re a handbuilding ceramic studio in Frogtown, LA, focused on supporting mental wellness and building community through ceramics.

Our sliding scale membership is for makers who value both craft, creative expression and community. We aim to create a supportive, inclusive space for growth and creativity.

We offer two membership options: a firing-only membership and an in-house membership, both on a month-to-month basis. LGBTQ+ and BIPOC makers are encouraged to apply.

Members Receive:

Studio Access: 24/7 access to our indoor/outdoor Frogtown studio, excluding private events and workshops. We prioritize a small membership to ensure mutual care, support, and community.

Discounts: 15% off all studio services (classes, rentals, events, private workshops). A 10% discount at Sooki Supply including clay, tools and more.

Community Gatherings: Monthly potlucks to connect, share ideas, troubleshoot, and offer support in your creative practice.

Shelving Space: A personal shelf for storing tools, materials, and in-progress work.

Firings: Weekly to bi-weekly firings for cone 06 bisque and cone 5 glaze firings. Discounted rates for extra space, custom firings, and rush firings.

Experimentation: Opportunity to explore local clays, glazes, and commercial bodies with full support to ensure safe firing practices.

Tools & Equipment: We have a Skutt 1027 electric kiln, the internal dimensions are 21" x 25". We have two slab rollers, one is a North Star PortaRoller 16" and the second is a NorthStar Sirius Star 30". We have basic handbuilding tools available to our members, molds, banding wheels, rolling pins and ample work benches both seated and standing height. We have a treadle pottery wheel available for members to use.

We have a studio kitchenette with snacks, tea, coffee & water for all our membership and students.

Materials: We have 15 dip cone 5/mid range glazes available to our members and clay available for purchase in our supply store. Members are welcome to use their own glazes and clays.

Your membership will then cancel one month from the day we receive your request.

Sliding Scale Pricing

We use sliding scale pricing to make ceramics accessible and affordable through mutual community care. There are multiple pricing tiers—please choose the one that best fits your financial situation. This is a trust-based system, and only you know what’s comfortable for you.

Highest Tier Pricing: The true cost of a membership. If you can afford this, paying at the higher end helps subsidize others, allowing us to offer more affordable options.

Tier Adjustments: If your finances change, you can adjust your membership tier anytime in the online portal.

Tier Availability: Each tier has limited spots to maintain balance and cover studio costs. If a tier is sold out, reach out to us, and we’ll try to find a sustainable solution.

Health, Safety & Accessibility

To ensure a safe space for everyone, we require masks for all programming and membership.

We ask that participants provide their own N95 or KN95 masks, we also have some masks available at the studio. Masks protect us from airborne infection, along with clay & glaze dust that can become harmful with longterm inhalation. We ask that everyone work with us, so that we can collectively create a safe environment for all.

Our property is ADA accessible. The bathroom has 3 steps and a ramp can be fitted upon request. On-site parking is available when needed along with other accommodations. Please reach out with any questions or requests to info@sooki.studio.
